Last date for admission in UG classes has been extended upto 30th September 2021. Last date for depositing admission fee online is 30 September 2021 for candidates whose name already figured in merit lists. Classes in Offline mode will start in college from 01 September 2021. Shaheed Captain Vikram Batra Govt. College, Palampur(Kangra) came into existence as Govt. College Palampur vide Govt. of Himachal Pradesh, Education Department Notification No. Chha(15), 3/86-Shiksha ka-II Dated 07-04-1995. Later it was renamed in the memory of Capt. Vikram Batra (Param Veer Chakra) the martyr and Hero of Kargil war, 1999. The College was recognized by UGC under section 2(f) & 12(B) of the UGC Act. 1956, vide latter no. 8-471/2008(CPP-I) dated 29 Sep, 2009. The college affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University, Summer Hill, Shimla-5. The college functioned in a small rented accommodation till 18-06-2008 and now this College had been shifted to its own spacious building on 19-06-2008. Consisting 12 Lectures Room and 06 Lecture theaters, separate Labs for Botany, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Math and Computer Department.

Dear Students The word “Tamso Ma Jyotirgamaya” from Brihad Aranyaka Upanishad is the motto of SCVB Government college, Palampur. The chant literally means “Lead me from darkness to light”. It is a prayer to overcome the ignorance to attain knowledge. The prayer, if fulfilled, embarks a journey from illusion to reality, from irrational to rational, from fear to fearlessness, from falsehood to truth. This journey initiates a metamorphosis or evolution of self. Education helps us in this quest of knowledge. Education widens the horizon and increases the sphere of understanding. With the understanding of life comes an awareness which coaxes us to make consistent efforts to release ourselves from the illusory, personal, destructive attitudes and opinions. The motto inspires both students and teachers to attain real, true, universal and constructive knowledge in the world. The education helps as Socrates says to “Know the self”. It aids in advancement from the finite, limited world of darkness or ignorance to the infinite, unlimited world of self-knowledge.
