About the Department

The Department of Environment Science at S.C.V.B. Government College offers the Environment Education and Awareness course at the undergraduate level as a Value Added Course (VAC) under the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020. The course is designed to equip students with fundamental knowledge of environmental issues while fostering environmental awareness, ecological responsibility, and sustainable living.

The department provides students with a comprehensive understanding of environmental concepts, including ecosystems, biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, environmental pollution, climate change, environmental laws, disaster management, and sustainable development. Through an interdisciplinary approach, students develop scientific temper, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills essential for addressing contemporary environmental challenges.

The curriculum combines theoretical learning with experiential activities such as biodiversity documentation, environmental field visits, campus cleanliness and plantation drives, waste management practices, and the study of local ecosystems. These activities encourage students to connect classroom knowledge with real-world environmental issues and promote active participation in conservation initiatives.
